Love TV? TV women have brought us great lessons in leadership, achievement and diligence. It’s time their stories are told and in many cases, placed in the proper context of the women’s movement, social change and political trends. Representation of women on TV – whether it’s in the news, programming schedule or sports – is a fraction of the amount of screen time men get. Yet every generation of women is profoundly impacted by what they see. It’s more than the memory of watching it, it’s the confidence that if a girl or woman sees another doing it, she is more likely to believe in herself.

Advanced TV Herstory finds those seminal moments, those important episodes of iconic shows or profiles of women whose persistence was exemplary, and tells those stories. Within each episode, we zero in on the life lessons discovered through research and analysis. Shows from every era and genre, and the women who made them, get their place in the spotlight.

Interview with Bill Jankowski, who worked with Anna "Patty" Duke to document her experiences and observations working with greats from film, stage and TV. Duke shared her talents with audiences, earning an Oscar & pre-TONY for her performances in The Miracle Worker, and of course made all sorts of TV Herstory with her iconic series, The Patty Duke Show.

We discuss her thoughts on famous people she worked with as well as mending regrettable moments and fractured relationships that occurred during manic bipolar phases, prior to her diagnosis. Bill gives backstory to the book's Gloria Vanderbilt foreward and how he brought her final thoughts to print following her untimely death at 69 in 2016.

In the Presence of Greatness (2018) by Anna "Patty" Duke and William Jankowski.
